Concerns About Drink as a HC Candidate at Auburn
I'm starting to lose interest in Drink as a HC candidate at Auburn. Don't get me wrong, I think we could do a lot worse and if he's hired I won't at all be upset, but I'm not sure he's the coach we need right now.
We need a hard-nosed, blue collar, fundamental coach or a coaching vet, such as Kiffin or Franklin, in my opinion. I think Drink is a solid coach, but he just seems like Gus 2.0. We will also have to pay him a significant amount of money.
Alternatively, I think Sumrall is a great option. The more I listen to him, the more I like him. I think Sumrall just gets it and is a tailor-made fit for Auburn. Key would be a grand slam hire, but the timing may not work and he may want to stay at his alma mater.
Rhett also deserves less criticism, in my opinion. Other options include Brent Key, although this seems unlikely, and Golesh.
