Thousands of residents in Burlington and Sedro-Woolley experienced a power outage on Saturday morning due to a car crash that caused heavy damage to transformers.
According to Puget Sound Energy, more than 5,400 customers in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington lost power, with over 1,000 customers in Sedro-Woolley still without power as of 1 p.m.
A motor vehicle crash around 7 a.m. at Wicker Road and Fruitdale Road on the eastern edge of town likely led to the large power outage.
The Sedro-Woolley police were able to extract the passengers of the vehicle and lead them away from the scene. Power was estimated to be restored to the remaining customers around 2:30 p.m.
