As the holiday season approaches, airports are dealing with the uncertainty of the ongoing government shutdown.
According to Lauren Gonzales, Marketing Supervisor at Santa Barbara Airport, larger airports are more likely to feel the effects of the shutdown.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced temporary flight groundings from Oakland to LA on Sunday due to staffing shortages.
"We really haven't seen much impact on operations at SBA luckily but we are keeping in close contact with our Federal partners to be in touch on any changes that they see on their end,"
said Gonzales. However, a government worker, who wished to remain anonymous, reported being delayed by issues at other airports while traveling.
Airports like Santa Barbara are closely monitoring the situation to minimize disruptions.
