iPhone 18 Camera Control Button Design
Apple is simplifying the Camera Control button's design on the iPhone 18 to reduce costs, according to a Chinese leaker.
The current iPhone 17 model uses both capacitive and pressure sensors, but the iPhone 18 will reportedly retain only pressure sensing recognition.
- Capacitive layer detects touch gestures
- Force sensor recognizes pressure levels for taps, presses, and swipes
Apple will remove the capacitive sensing layer and retain only pressure sensing recognition.
The single-sensor approach is similar to designs found in devices like the OPPO X8 Ultra and vivo X200 Ultra.
In later iterations, piezoelectric ceramics will be introduced to provide localized haptic feedback.
