Meridian Field Hockey Beats Kettle Run In Overtime
The Meridian High School field hockey team defeated Kettle Run Cougars 2-1 in overtime, marking their second victory over the Cougars in 12 days.
Emma Flanagan scored 90 seconds into overtime, securing the win for the Mustangs. This comes after Flanagan's sole goal against the Cougars two weeks prior.
The game was intense, with a scoreless first half and no goals until late in the third period, when Zorah Randhawa put the Mustangs on the board.
The Mustangs required extra minutes for the second consecutive game, having gone to a shootout against Fauquier in their regular season finale.
This win punches the Mustangs' ticket to the states, following their nail-biting opening in the Region 3B playoffs.
