Uber to Launch Premium Robotaxi Service in San Francisco
Uber will launch a premium robotaxi service in San Francisco, competing directly with Waymo, using Lucid Motors' all-electric Gravity SUVs equipped with self-driving tech from Nuro in 2026.
"The Bay Area has long been the birthplace of transformative technology, and it’s only fitting that Uber’s next-generation robotaxi program with Lucid and Nuro will begin here — launching to the public next year,"
said Uber chief product officer Sachin Kansal. This move puts Uber in direct competition with Waymo in the metro area.
