Eliud Kipchoge, the fastest marathoner in the world, is set to complete his last world major in New York this fall.
Considered the GOAT of marathon running, Kipchoge started running 26.2 miles in 2012 after failing to qualify for his country's Olympic track team.
He has won nearly every single marathon he entered, holding the marathon world record from 2018 to 2023 with a time of 2:01:39 in Berlin, later lowered to 2:01:09.
Kipchoge is the only human to break the two-hour barrier for a marathon, running 1:59:40 in the Ineos 1:59 challenge in Vienna, a feat that cemented his status as the best marathoner of all time.
This feat didn’t count as an official world record, but it raised the bar for what runners believed was possible.
