Bruce Peninsula power outage Wednesday affects thousands

Power Outage on Bruce Peninsula

A power outage on Wednesday affected 6,300 Hydro One customers, reportedly caused by a vehicle hitting a hydro pole at around 4:20 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that the outage was due to a motor vehicle crash at Highway 6 and Happy Valley Road, however, efforts to confirm this with Grey Bruce OPP were unsuccessful.

According to a Hydro One spokeswoman, by 4:40 p.m., the outage was limited to just over 2,480 customers, and power was restored to all customers just before 1 a.m.

A customer came in and mentioned a vehicle driven by a friend hit a hydro pole, which caused the outage.

Charlie Anderson, a waitress at the TruFood Cafe, reported this information from a customer on Thursday.
