Topsoe Launches 500MW Electrolyser Facility in Denmark
Topsoe, a Denmark-based energy transition technology provider, has launched a solid oxide electrolyser cell manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 500MW.
The new facility, located in Herning, Denmark, is the company's largest investment to date, supported by €94m from the EU Innovation Fund.
- The facility will produce electrolyser stacks for green hydrogen production.
- Green hydrogen can be used as a feedstock for ammonia and e-methanol to reduce emissions in industrial sectors.
"Our SOEC facility will be a game-change for the energy transition," said Roeland Baan, CEO of Topsoe.
The company expects to service up to 10GW of installed capacity at customer sites after ten years, cutting CO2 emissions by 15 million metric tonnes compared to hydrogen from natural gas.
