The Oswego, N.Y., plant is a vertically integrated operation that melts, casts, and rolls aluminum for various products, including an estimated 40% of the U.S. supply of flat-rolled automotive sheet.
Novelis, the world’s largest producer of flat-rolled aluminum, reported it will restart the Oswego, N.Y., hot mill by December, weeks earlier than initially expected after extensive fire damage there on September 16.
