Gardai Injured During Call to Investigate Laser Beam Incident

Gardai were called to a house where a laser beam had been shone, resulting in injuries to two members. One was struck with a torch and a female colleague had a window jammed on her forearm, as heard in Trim District Court.

A 51-year-old IT worker, Gillian Kennedy, appeared charged with assaulting two occupants and two gardai with the laser beam. The female garda required hospital treatment following the incident on August 29th last year.

There was a background dispute regarding planning and boundaries between the defendant and her neighbours.

Ms Kennedy denied the charges, but Judge Eirinn McKiernan convicted her on all four counts. The defendant's barrister, Niall Gallagher, was given time to speak with Ms Kennedy.
