Arrest made in Cocoa teen’s ‘ambush’ killing, sheriff says; second suspect sought

Arrest Made in Cocoa Teen's Killing

A 20-year-old man, Jonterich Smith, has been arrested in connection with the deadly ambush shooting of 15-year-old KaRyah Duncan outside a Cocoa restaurant.

Smith is charged with first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, and is being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.

A manhunt continues for a second suspect in the ambush-style shooting that killed Duncan and wounded two others in Cocoa.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest in connection with the deadly Oct. 6 ambush shooting.
