Understanding Management Directed Reassignments
Recent management directed reassignments (MDRs) have been issued to dozens of federal employees with little notice, leaving them to make potentially career-altering decisions quickly.
Experts advise employees who receive such reassignments to ask questions, including those about the reporting structure, duties, and job title, as this information is often lacking in the reassignment letters.
Ask for the reporting structure. Ask for the duties and the job title, because in some of these letters that we’ve seen, they’ve got nothing.
According to Erik Snyder, counsel with Gilbert Employment Law, employees should inquire about the type of information they would want to know about their new role.
