Carson Loftin Wins SMART Modified Tour Semifinal
Carson Loftin outdueled Burt Myers in a frantic finish at Tri-County Speedway, securing the win in the SMART Modified Tour semifinal race.
Myers made a late charge, drawing even with Loftin in the final laps, but Loftin held him off by running him wide exiting turn two, forcing Myers to lift.
“Burt was flying at the end and I knew I had to hold him off,” Loftin said. “I didn’t really mean to run him in the marbles at the end. I don’t really want to win a race like that. I roughed him up more than I wanted to.”
The win sets up a championship battle between Ryan Newman, Luke Baldwin, and Paulie Hartwig, III at North Wilkesboro.
The incident sparked a confrontation between Myers and his crew with Loftin in victory lane, before Loftin could celebrate his win.
