Atlanta United Goalie Brad Guzan Announces Retirement

After 21 years of playing professional soccer, Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan announced he will retire after the 2025 season.

Guzan joined Atlanta United midway through the team’s inaugural season in 2017 and led the team to a 2018 MLS Cup and the 2019 U.S. Open Cup.

He finishes his career with 301 MLS regular-season appearances, according to the league.

“21 years is a long time,” the star said on social media. “I’m just a kid from Chicago who instantly knew this game was for me. Today, as I prepare to hang up my gloves, I know this journey was never just about me. THANK YOU - TO EVERYONE.”

Guzan previously spent nine years in the English Premier League, playing eight seasons with Aston Villa and one with Middlesbrough, and played 64 games with the U.S. national team.
