Tragedy in North Chicago: Navy Sailor Among Two Found Fatally Shot

Federal officials are mourning the loss of a Navy Sailor who was among two people found fatally shot outside a home in North Chicago near Great Lakes Naval Station on Friday evening.

The North Chicago Police Department and Naval Station Great Lakes Fire Department responded to a report of a shooting around 8:08 p.m. in the 2300 block of California Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals who had been shot, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Sources told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the incident possibly began with an argument involving the two outside of a house, with witnesses stating that the male was armed with a gun and shot the female victim before shooting himself.
