Rare Calico Lobster Makes Debut
A rare 1-in-20-million calico lobster, named Jackie, has made her debut at Northeastern University's Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts.
Jackie owes her unique colors to a mixture of chemical compounds, making her a seasonal ambassador for Halloween, alongside spiders, bats, and oozing fungi.
Jackie is a calico lobster and the odds of catching a crustacean like this are about one-in-20 million
According to Sierra Munoz, Marine Science Center outreach coordinator, Jackie is even more rare than Neptune the blue lobster, with odds of one-in-two million.
- Jackie was caught off the coast of Massachusetts by lobsterman Mike Tufts.
