Saleshando Calls for Accountability on Health Emergency
Leader of Opposition Dumelang Saleshando has called on President Duma Boko to provide accountability regarding the declaration of a State of Public Health Emergency.
Saleshando expressed concern that the declaration was made immediately after Parliament's winter session, dismissing the move as a mere drama.
We seem to have a trend of a national president who acts alone on very important national issues and remember as Parliament our duty is to provide oversight on the conduct of the executive.
Saleshando warned that this move clips the legislative's power in decisions undertaken by the executive, and urged legislators to wake up to the fact that decisions taken without their oversight could lead to negative consequences.
