Limpopo stadium project soaks up time and money

Limpopo Stadium Project Delays

The Davhana Stadium in Vuwani remains unfinished over six years after construction began, despite millions of rands spent.

Construction started in 2019, with a three-phase design to provide a proper venue for football and sporting events for residents of Davhana and surrounding villages.

"We are worried about the delay … They destroyed the old dusty ground to construct a new one, but until today it is still incomplete. No one in the community knows the reason for the delay,"
said resident Elvis Rivisi.

Local footballers continue to play on three dusty fields, while the site is overgrown with bushes.

Davhana Balanganani Civic secretary Steven Chauke questioned the municipality's priorities, asking why a stadium was being built when the area lacks a proper road.

A stadium spokesperson responded defensively, asking "Why are you investigating our stadium?"

Author's summary: Limpopo stadium incomplete.
