2025 Great Alaska ShakeOut Reminds the State to Drop, Cover and Hold On
The Great Alaska ShakeOut was held on Thursday at 10:16 a.m., coinciding with the date 10/16 at 10:16.
Citizens across the state participated in this annual event to practice protecting themselves from earthquakes. Alaska experiences 50-100 earthquakes daily, making it crucial to practice earthquake safety.
Denali Montessori Elementary School was among the participating schools. The children quickly found their safe places, covering their heads and necks, and sheltering under their desks, as they should in a real earthquake.
