New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the approval of a new underground transmission line that will connect the existing Clay substation to Micron Technology's upcoming semiconductor megafab in Onondaga County.
The two-mile, 345-kilovolt line was approved by the New York State Public Service Commission and represents a critical infrastructure milestone for Micron's massive $100 billion investment in Central New York — the largest private investment in the state's history.
The transmission line will power Micron's advanced manufacturing complex, which aims to produce up to 25% of all U.S. semiconductors.
