Helena Moreno to be next mayor of New Orleans
City Councilmember Helena Moreno won the Oct. 11 primary election with 55% of the vote, securing her position as the next mayor of New Orleans.
Moreno's victory gives her a strong mandate when she enters office in January, allowing her to assemble a team and prepare to lead the city.
"The work starts tomorrow morning,"
Moreno said, noting that she will focus on preparing a city budget to achieve her vision.
