The South Bend Redevelopment Commission received no bids for the three pieces of land, including the former Drewrys Brewery site, at its October 23 meeting.
The city had advertised for bids in September for the sites, including the former Portage Elwood Shopping Center and the former Portage Sunoco Garage.
"We have not received any bids," said Joseph Molnar, Growth and Opportunity Assistant Director.
Although no bids were received, Molnar noted that there are entities interested in being partners. The city had not anticipated receiving any bids and was not required to accept them, as the advertisement for bids was intended to satisfy a state law requirement.
The city has begun the demolition process for the neighboring Portage Elwood Shopping Center and plans to issue a request for proposal in spring 2026.
Author's summary: No bids for Drewrys land redevelopment.
