Worcester City Council Vehicles to Become Greener

Worcester City Council is considering switching to an eco-friendly fuel alternative for its vehicles.

Councillors will be asked to approve the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in 42 council vehicles, currently powered by diesel.

Coun Karen Lewing, vice chair of the committee, said: “I’ve campaigned for many years for cleaner air in our city. I’m pleased to see that, if approved, the reduction in emissions from these council vehicles will be substantial.

This proposal aligns with the council's vision to become carbon-neutral by 2030 and will be discussed at the Environment Committee on November 4.
