I recently visited the BCMA and saw the Gordon Parks exhibit, where one set of photographs stood out to me - a quaint general store. The more I looked at it, the more I thought about the general stores in Maine and how they contribute to a sense of community.
Community is not just about town meetings or Facebook groups, but also about the places that provide us with everyday essentials and a sense of belonging. For me, this started at the Hope General Store, where I had my first parent-free adventure with friends during summer break.
Community isn't necessarily about town meetings or Facebook groups but is derived from the places that sell us coffee, eggs and a sense of belonging.
