Police have condemned the "absolutely unacceptable" behavior of a group of up to 30 youths who targeted them with fireworks in Preston city centre over the weekend.
The incident occurred after officers responded to reports of the group aiming fireworks at members of the public and their properties. Upon arrival, the youths allegedly began targeting the police instead.
According to Lancashire Constabulary, around 25 fireworks were aimed at their vehicles, with some exploding within arm's reach.
As a result, patrols have been increased in the affected areas.
