Openreach Expands Fibre-Only Areas

Openreach has announced that 94 additional exchange locations will be transitioning to fibre-only, affecting almost 1 million premises.

As of next year, households and businesses in these areas will no longer be able to order analogue copper-based broadband and phone packages.

Once the 'stop sell' rules are activated, customers must take a new digital service to switch, upgrade, or renew their broadband or phone service.

This policy has already been implemented in 1041 exchanges, covering 8.9 million premises, where full fibre is available to at least 75% of premises.

Openreach will require all orders, including upgrades, to be for digital services powered by its new full fibre network.

Author's summary: Openreach expands fibre-only areas to 94 new locations.
