Respiratory Infections Season Begins in Hungary
The 40th week of 2025 marks the official start of the respiratory season in Hungary, although it is expected to peak between the 3rd and 7th weeks of 2026.
Currently, coronavirus infections are dominant, with nearly 100 people hospitalized due to severe acute respiratory infection (ARI), and over a third of them testing positive for SARS-CoV-2.
The respiratory surveillance service will monitor the incidence of influenza-like illnesses and acute respiratory infections based on data from 1,288 general practitioners and pediatricians.
The respiratory season, often mistakenly called influenza season, has officially started.
This season's surveillance participates in the smallest number of doctors to date.
