Family Argument Turns Deadly in West Phoenix
One man is dead and another is in custody after a family argument in west Phoenix turned deadly on Sunday night, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, 31-year-old Brandon Alvarez was arrested for shooting and killing his stepfather, Jaunarius Moreno.
- Alvarez faces second-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting, police said.
- Officers responded to a home near 39th and Maryland avenues for reports of a shooting around 7:35 p.m.
- Alvarez called 911 operators and told them he shot his 57-year-old stepfather.
Officers found Moreno in the backyard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and the Phoenix Fire Department pronounced him dead on the scene.
Alvarez was detained and faces charges for the fatal shooting.
