WGA Tells CBS News Staff to Hold Responses to Bari Weiss Memo Pending More Info

The Writers Guild of America East urged its members not to immediately respond to a memo requested by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.

The union, which represents a portion of CBS News staffers, advised its members to wait until it gets more information on the purpose of the memo, signifying an early tension point between the newly installed editor and the staff she’s set to lead.

“Please be blunt — it will help me greatly,” she wrote.

Weiss asked staffers to submit a memo by Tuesday outlining their work hours and accomplishments, with the goal of getting their views on what's working and what's not.

This development comes after David Ellison’s Paramount completed its $150 million acquisition of The Free Press, Weiss’ “anti-woke” news operation, with Weiss taking hold of CBS News on Monday.

Author's summary: WGA advises CBS News staff to delay responding to Bari Weiss' memo.
