Sarnia Sting say goodbye to import Ruslan Karimov

Sarnia Sting Part Ways with Import Player Ruslan Karimov

The Sarnia Sting, one of only two OHL teams without an import player, have parted ways with Russian forward Ruslan Karimov.

Karimov was claimed off waivers by the Regina Pats and will attempt to rediscover his offensive flair in the Western Hockey League. The 18-year-old left-winger had no points in three games this season and fell down the Sting's depth chart.

He just didn’t quite provide the pop we need in that position.

According to Sting general manager Dylan Seca, import players need to be impactful. Karimov had 15 goals and 14 assists in 66 games last season as a rookie, showing promise as a top-six player.

If we’re going to have import players, they need to be impactful.

Author's summary: Sarnia Sting part with import player Ruslan Karimov due to lack of impact.
