Army Plans to Install Nuclear Reactors on 9 Bases
The Army plans to install small commercial nuclear reactors on 9 US bases by 2028, as part of Project Janus.
"This is about the transition from prototypes to fully commercial nuclear power to provide energy resilience with our soldiers,"
said Jeff Waksman, principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced the plan, citing the need for sustainable energy sources in large-scale conflicts.
