At the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Annual Meeting, Convergence 2025, updates on the new guidelines for treating and managing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were discussed.
These guidelines update the 1999 version, reflecting changes in understanding optimal use of standard rheumatology therapies. The new guidelines include three strong recommendations and focus on organ-specific disease, including musculoskeletal, cutaneous, hematologic, and neurologic manifestations.
The hope is that the new guidelines will provide more universal use of optimal disease management for people with SLE and reduce barriers to care, with 36 recommendations to be shared publicly in the coming weeks.
