The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) discussed new guidelines for treating and managing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) at Convergence 2025.
These guidelines update the 1999 version, reflecting changes in understanding optimal therapy use. They include three strong recommendations and focus on organ-specific disease, such as musculoskeletal and neurologic manifestations.
The guidelines aim to promote universal use of optimal disease management and reduce care barriers. The full 36 recommendations will be shared publicly in the coming weeks.
The hope is to provide more universal use of optimal disease management for people with SLE and reduce barriers to care.
