Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has made a request through his lawyers that could impact the fairness of his trial.
Robinson was arrested and charged with seven offenses, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, after Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 at a Utah Valley University event.
A massive manhunt led to Robinson's arrest less than two days later. If convicted, he could face capital punishment, with Utah being one of five states that still uses a firing squad as a method of execution.
No potential motive for the killing has been given by officials.
