Rival Sharks, Ducks Gear Up for Game 1
Sports rivalries between California teams are always intense, and hockey is no exception.
When the San Jose Sharks visit the Anaheim Ducks in Game 1 of a first-round Western Conference matchup, it will mark the 14th playoff series between California teams and only the second between San Jose and Anaheim.
The Ducks have a history of upsetting the Sharks, having done so in 2009 when they pulled off a six-game victory over the Presidents' Trophy winners.
This season, Anaheim finished strong with a 10-1-1 run, securing second place in the Pacific Division ahead of San Jose and the Los Angeles Kings.
The eighth-seeded Ducks pulled off the upset in six games.
