Supporting disclosure: SNAICC resource strengthens responses to child safety concerns

Supporting Disclosure: SNAICC Resource

SNAICC – National Voice for our Children has released a new resource to support early childhood educators in responding to disclosures of abuse or harm.

Believe, Inquire, Respond to Disclosures

This resource is part of SNAICC’s work to support culturally safe and child-centred practices, protecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and promoting their wellbeing.

Responding effectively to a disclosure of abuse is critical, especially in early childhood education and care settings where trust-based relationships are formed.

Children may disclose directly, indirectly, or through behaviour, and how adults respond can impact the child’s sense of safety and likelihood of ongoing disclosure or help-seeking.

Responding effectively to a disclosure of abuse is a critical responsibility for anyone working with children.

Author's summary: SNAICC releases a resource to support child safety concerns.
